I struggled with being overweight throughout my entire childhood. I was picked on quite a bit and it affected my confidence and other aspects of my mental health in significant ways. Fast forward to age 17; I had just gone through significant trauma and was at a dangerously low weight. I had always wanted my body to look a certain way and now having been on both ends of the extremes, I was frustrated, depressed, and disheartened. The year that followed changed my life. Skyler meticulously taught me sustainable training and dieting methods. I had no idea just how inadequate my nutrition had been. Within 6 months, I had a full six pack for the first time in my life. Training with Skyler taught me confidence, how to accept the things I cannot change, and how to attack life with reckless abandon. Coach Skyler got me back on the wrestling mat after 30+ years (yes, I was in my early 50’s). He listened to my goal to get back into the sport of wrestling. I heard Coach Skyler was a great hockey player, being an athlete himself made for an easy discussion of a comprehensive training plan. He studied up on the sport of wrestling and created a “get back on the mat” fitness program. He incorporated stability, strength, flexibility, cardio, and explosive type movements. I am so blessed to have this talented young Skyman push me back on the mat. As of writing this, I have completed 10+ wrestling tournaments over 4 years since I was with Coach Skyler. This is a testament to his overall health and fitness knowledge, as well as his motivational coaching. Trust me, there were days I did not want to train, but Skyman always helped me get through it.
